PrintWorks: Making Music @ Society for Historically Informed Performance (SoHIP) Virtual Concert Series
June 23, 2021 | filmed at The Substation, Roslindale, MA
The Halfmoon presented a multimedia, virtual concert version of PrintWorks for SoHIP’s annual summer concert series, hosted virtually during the Covid-19 pandemic. The program features works by Gabrieli, Buonamente, Marini, Matteis, and Marais — composed and printed in the 17-18th centuries with historic letterpress and engraving techniques. A new electroacoustic work by rising composer Audrey Wu was co-commissioned for PrintWorks by SoHIP and The Halfmoon. Original animations by visual artist Alex Jaehyun Kim are interwoven.
